The Children's University™ and Me: Ecocamp at Bradford Children's University™

Children from Lower Fields, Newhall Park and Usher Street primary schools participated in a week long Eco Camp which was based at Lower Fields Primary school in Bradford. The activities included: calculating individual carbon footprints and making a campaign poster about recycling.

The children visited a local recycling site and - as you can see - used some of the materials create different things. One student said “I enjoyed everything. I liked going to the tip and making Fair Trade bags”.

The week of activities were supported by different environmental groups across Bradford and Leeds and included Bradford Community Environment Project, Bradford Environmental Education Service, The Wildlife Trust, Groundwork Trust, Bradford Council and Link Telecom.

On the last day of the camp the students had a celebration event held at Odsal Stadium - the home of the BRADFORD BULLS Superleague rugby team, where they presented their parents and friends with the the work they had done over the week. Each student received a Bradford Bulls goodie bag - which included a low energy light bulb to continue the theme!
