Dr J Sandy Bradbrook
Sandy was brought up in Liverpool, read Natural Sciences at Trinity College, Cambridge and after completing his PhD at Manchester he joined Tube Investments in Birmingham in 1970. There followed a successful 15 year progression across 3 different manufacturing industries.
In 1985 Sandy joined Wigan Health Authority as District General Manager. He stayed for over 11 years and then had a five year spell working with Primary Care leading a learning collaborative before being appointed as CEO of the Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS Trust in December 2001. Under his leadership the Trust progressed from a 1 star organisation to 3 stars in successive years and retained that level in 2004/5.
Since November 2005 Sandy has been Chief Executive for Heart of Birmingham PCT.
He has been married for over 42 years to Averyl, who is a priest in the Church of England, and has 3 children. The youngest, Peter (26) is a young man with Down’s Syndrome.
